Sustainability as self-reliance is one of the principles that have been guiding Association Pope John 23’s work since the very beginning of its presence in Zambia. Relying on donors can be difficult and not sustainable, in particular for a Charity whose approach is based on a long-term presence within the community.

For this reason, in 2008 Cicetekelo Youth Project was registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee to do business as a Social Enterprise, with two main objectives:
• Generate profits to be invested in the social programs of APJ23;
• Give dignity to the people by offering skills and decent work opportunities to the youths.

This has a direct impact on the social and economic development of Zambia, whereby it contributes to the economic growth of Zambia and combats unemployment, which is one of the main driver of emigration from Africa to Europe.

Today, Cicetekelo Youth Project LbG employs more than 100 workers in two main line of business: Gigibontà Italian Gelato and Agriculture.
