Gigibontà Italian Gelato (the “Italian ice cream”) is the first and largest manufacturer of artisanal Italian gelato in Zambia. Born in 2011 in Ndola with the objective of offering skills training and job opportunities to the grown-up youths of Cicetekelo Youth Project, the company was the first to bring the Italian culture of gelato and coffee into Zambia on a large scale.

Gigibontà is famous all over the country for its gelato, but it has gained a very good reputation also as a cafeteria, offering excellent coffee products, as well as pastries, cakes and savoury snacks.

Thanks to the ability of maintaining high standards of both products and service and diversifying its offer to adapt to the evolving market, Gigibontà has succeeded in establishing a well-renown brand country-wide and has grown quickly over the years, reaching the current size of two factories and nine outlets in Lusaka, Kitwe and Ndola.

Gigibontà is the most important social enterprise under Cicetekelo Youth Project Limited by Guarantee. It provides decent work and highly valued skills to more than 90 youths, of which more than 60% are girls.
